With the technology that we currently have available approximately FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS of corn are needed to fill one standard sized gas tank in one car ! What else could be done with that corn? These 500 lbs would be enough to feed a person for a year. Now lets take that math and extend it over one car and 365 days. Using corn-derived ethanol, the average US car would burn roughly 27,000 pounds of corn per year! That equals to enough to feed a small village for a year! THATs HORRIBLE! So if that village doesnt get that corn then that driver of that car using ethanol, who thinks he is helping the environment and doing something good, can be said to have been responsible for the death of a small village somewhere else in the world
When you try to solve a problem and end up with that problem and a much worse one then that is not survival, not sanity, not a good solution. Ethanol from corn does not help the environment and it adds a new problem a worldwide food crisis which fossil fuels never caused ! The soaring price of oil does make for higher food prices due to transport prices increasing and other consequences but that does not lower the food supply. But now American and European Union policies have resulted in a drastically lower food supply by fascistically demanding that farmers grow corn for fuel instead of food . Emperor Bush's 2007 "Energy Independence and Security Act" turns our food into fuel.
With biofuels out of the equation, farmers could have easily passed higher energy costs on to consumers without shrinking food production, and they would also have been able to increase the quantity of food generated to meet increased demand of an expanding world population. In fact, when prices rise, the market is giving more incentive for producers to generate more of the thing that is in higher demand so they can make more money. Now those incentive signals are confused and ineffective because of forced government biofuel mandates. Farmers must now produce for the automotive biofuel market as well as for the human food market.
Exactly fifty years ago, Mao in China removed the right to private agriculture in his shift towards communism and left wing corporatism and over the next two years the output of grain dropped a total of 25% . Bush either failed to learn from history or learned too well but he has outdone Mao! Biofuel production has consumed an estimated 33% to 38% of America's corn crop depending on which reports that you consider more accurate . Maos dictatorial policy and some misfortune turned his 1958 plan into the greatest famine in the history of mankind , and the result was the starvation and death of tens of millions of Chinese . Bush's "Energy Independence and Security Act" may eventually take even more lives worldwide.
It is estimated that 10 to 20 MILLION people could die from food shortages caused by biofuel in 2008 alone. So, how many people is that? Most years the total number of people who die from all causes, total number of deaths is between fifty and sixty million people ! So this means an increase of 12% to 40% in the total number of deaths. Hardly anyone has noticed this occurring but surely there must be millions that have died already since the year is almost 1/3rd over already. So how does that compare to deaths from terrorism for instance? I make the comparison because such a large percent of the population is freaked out about terrorism .
Lets review some other stats of death so as to compare. Between six hundred thousand and seven hundred thousand die in America most years from heart conditions of one kind or another . Cancer takes between 450,000 and 600,000 deaths per year .
Over one hundred thousand people die every year from accidents of different kinds . In the year of the WTC and Pentagon attacks the deaths on the road were tantamount to having the 911 attacks occurring every twenty six days . And how many deaths were there of Americans from terrorist attacks through the decade of the 1990s? They averaged 250 deaths per year which is about one person for every four hundred that die in accidents! So now how does that 100,000 deaths per year from traffic accidents compare to, maybe 15 million deaths from starvation due to the shift to biofuel? That ratio is 1 to 150!
15 million people would fill Yankee stadium for every one of the home games for four years with 50,000 people per game
My fellow Americans, whom I hardly know anymore have demonstrated their willingness to sacrifice our Constitution, our freedoms, our heart and soul for security against terrorist attacks while that has even been a bad exchange since we dont have any more security than we did 7 years ago but we do have a country going rapidly from freedom to fascism . So I wonder what Americans will be willing to part with so that tens of millions of impoverished people
